Mike Maddux Bio Information - For Immediate Release
An institution in the Colorado music scene, an award winning guitarist, including a trophy at the prestigious National Flatpicking Championship contest held annually in Winfield, Kansas, the Colorado State Flatpicking contest, and many others, a featured columnist and recording artist for Flatpicking Guitar Magazine and FGM records, his music has regular airplay around the world, including the Czhech republic, Australia, and Europe, as well as North America, and all over the world on Internet Radio! Mikes former bands include the award winning bluegrass bands Heartland, and The Bertye Maddux BandA founding member of the Colorado Springs Contemporary Jazz Big Band, Mike continues to combine elements of jazz, bluegrass, and his classical background in his shows.

In the 1990's Mike joined the cast of columnists for Flatpicking Guitar Magazine.  His column Mastering the Fingerboard continues to appear in each issue, along with a CD recording of the songs and exercises he creates for the magazine.  After more than a decade of publications, Mike has appeared on more than 4 dozen CD's, featuring songs from Bill Monroe to Miles Davis, from bluegrass to jazz.  For one issue he chose to include the famous classical violinist Nicolo Paganini's "Moto Perpetuo".

 

Mike's recordings include 'Ol Banjo and Little Country Schoolhouse with the Bertye Maddux Band, and Hot 'N' Spicy, with Gary Cook.
